The General Government appropriation has received a $1.458 million or a 7.99% increase. Included in this is $100,000 for a 21st Century Environmental Commission, $300,000 for a Technology Initiative, $36,000 for Improving Education and Training and $300,000 for Enhancing Technology to Better Serve Pennsylvania.
The budget includes a new $2.0 million appropriation for Scrap Tire Cleanup.
Environmental Program Management has received a $736,000 or a 2.42% increase. Included in this increase is $56,000 for Improving Education and Training, and $67,000 for Deep Mine Monitoring.
The Office of Pollution Protection and Compliance Assistance has received a $405,000 or a 110% increase.
Environmental Protection Operations has received a $5.61 million or a 9.6% increase. Included in this increase is a $122,000 initiative for Improving Education and Training and $245,000 for Promoting Environmental Education.
Flood Control Projects have increased by $1.766 million.
Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants have increased by $1.5 million due to legislatively approved increased reimbursement rates. Sewage Treatment Planning Grants have been maintained at $1.5 million. Sewage Treatment Plant Operation Grants, which had been recommended for phase out by the administration, have been restored to normal formula levels. The appropriation totals $41.7 million, an increase of $11.7 million over that proposed by the Governor.
