SENATORS INTRODUCE CASINO
RELOCATION BILL
HARRISBURG, June 10, 2008 – State Senator Vince Fumo, with the united
support of his Philadelphia Senate colleagues, today introduced Senate Bill
1487, which would establish a collaborative process to find new locations for
Philadelphia’s two licensed slot machine gambling facilities.
The entire Philadelphia Senate delegation signed on as
co-sponsors of the legislation. They are: Sens Tina Tartaglione, Shirley
Kitchen, LeAnna Washington, Mike Stack, Vincent Hughes, and Anthony Williams.
The bill would also allow casinos to be situated in the
area around the Philadelphia Airport, which is currently off limits because of a
prohibition on another casino being located within 10 miles of the harness
racing track and casino in Chester.
Fumo announced his intention to introduce the
relocation legislation on April 30. A news release issued then, containing more
