FUMO’S CONDITION NOW FAIR
PHILADELPHIA, March 4, 2008
– After a restful night, state Senator Vince Fumo (D-Philadelphia) is in fair
condition today at Hahneman Hospital. Fumo, who suffered a heart attack on
Sunday, has been out of bed for brief periods and has experienced no further
chest pain this morning.
He has shown good cardiac function, and his vital signs
are stabile. Indicators are favorable for his recovery, according to
cardiologist Dr. Daniel McCormick, who has been treating Fumo since performing
an emergency coronary angioplasty on Sunday night to clear a total blockage of
the senator’s right coronary artery.
McCormick said Fumo will be transferred from the
cardiac critical care unit to a regular room today. There is still no projected
date for his release from the hospital.
