FUMO IMPROVING; HOSPITAL STAY WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS WEEK
PHILADELPHIA, March 5, 2008
– State Senator Vince Fumo (D-Philadelphia) has shown
improvement since yesterday, and remains in fair condition today at Hahnemann
Hospital.
According to cardiologist Dr. Daniel McCormick, Fumo’s
heart indicators are stabile and signs are favorable for his recovery. Fumo was
transferred out of the cardiac critical care unit yesterday afternoon. McCormick
said he will probably stay in the hospital for the rest of this week.
The senator wishes to convey his gratitude publicly for
the good wishes of so many people since he was hospitalized on Sunday. For
example, his room is filled with the large volume of flowers that he has
received. After taking note of each sender, he is now having the flowers
distributed so they can be enjoyed by other patients nearby on his floor.
Fumo, 64, suffered a heart attack on Sunday evening. He
underwent an emergency coronary angioplasty, and had a metal stent inserted to
restore blood flow.
