The Budget: Fiscal Year 1997-1998

ATTORNEY GENERAL

The Office of the Attorney General did much better in the legislative version of the budget than it did in the Governor's budget. The Governor recommended a 2% increase for the three row offices. He provided a 3.37% increase for Drug Law Enforcement and a 1.35% increase for the Local Drug Task Forces.

The Conference Committee Report added $1.388 million for General Government Operations, $325,000 for Drug Law Enforcement and $43,000 for Local Drug Task Forces. These are the amounts requested by Attorney General Mike Fisher at the hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee.

In addition, the budget adds $500,000 for the Capital Case Appeals Unit.
