FUMO-BROOKENS SETTLE CASE HARRISBURG, May 2, 2000 – The Transport Workers Union of Philadelphia and its president, Stephen Brookens, have settled a lawsuit filed in 1998 by state Senator Vincent J. Fumo (D-Philadelphia.) The suit arose from statements made by Brookens concerning Fumo’s efforts to help end the SEPTA workers’ strike in Philadelphia that summer. Financial terms are undisclosed. Brookens wrote the attached letter to Fumo as part of the settlement. “I am pleased with the results of the settlement and happy that the case has been satisfactorily resolved,” Fumo said. #
