FUMO
ISSUES STATEMENT ON DEATH OF GOVERNOR CASEY HARRISBURG,
May 31, 2000 -- State Senator
Vincent J. Fumo (D-Philadelphia) issued the following statement today on
the death last night of former Governor Robert P. Casey. "Governor
Casey was a man of great personal courage, and the courage of his
convictions. We agreed and disagreed at various times, but I knew that the
positions he took were always based on his sincere beliefs. It could be
frustrating when he was against you, but when he was with you there was no
more dependable ally. "More
than anything, he cared about all Pennsylvanians, no matter how strong or
powerful. He was in politics to help people. That's what drove him to
succeed, and Pennsylvania is a much better place today for his having been
governor. "My
prayers go out to Ellen and his family." # |
